Any works zhenjiu dacheng to acupuncture were to be collected, especially works considered primary sources, such as Su wen Plain questions and Nan jing Canon of difficult questions. Zhao also commissioned a sculpture of a life-size bronze man for the Imperial Academy of Medicine, with acupuncture points engraved zhenjiu dacheng it to make it easier for scholars to study.
It is an original edition, published by Zhao Wenbing. The purpose of the Encyclopaedia is to bring together knowledge of many disparate fields in one place and to legitimize the study of other cultures' science.
The Encyclopaedia is the first compilation of this sort, and it is testimony both to the earlier Eurocentric view of zhenjiu dacheng as well as to zhenjiu dacheng widened vision of today.
Zhao Wenbing also zhenjiu dacheng Yang publish his original work in an expanded version under the title of Zhen jiu da cheng. The second preface, written in by Zhao Wenbing himself, reads: Gradually I developed a bodily impediment.
