Ultisols are intensely weathered soils of warm and humid climates. They are typically formed on older geologic locations in parent material that is already. The central concept of Ultisols is that of soils that have a horizon that contains an appreciable amount of translocated silicate clay (an argillic or kandic horizon). Ultisols (from the Latin ultimus – last) are soils that have formed in humid areas and are intensely weathered. Xerults Xerults are the more or less freely drained Ultisols of Mediterranean climates.
